NETWORK 180

The Network 180 corporate brochure was designed to serve as a leave-behind piece for potential donors. With die cuts, foil stamps, and soft touch coating, the brochure was meant to be a memorable piece that would not be tossed out with other brochures. It was created with a side tab to help it further stand out amongst stacks of other folders and promotional materials.

This piece won a Silver Addy for the Public Service category in the 2015 West Michigan ADDY Awards.

INVASIVE SPECIES

The Invasive Species information motion graphic is a tool for increasing public awareness of the growing invasive species problem in the Great Lakes. It defines the problem in simple terms and describes several ways in which the public can act to help solve it.

The imagery is bright, playful, and kinetic in order to keep the viewers’ attention throughout the information-heavy piece; but it is also quite minimal to avoid distracting the viewer from the message.

HEALTHWEST

HealthWest aims to build a healthier, more informed, and inclusive community in the West Michigan area. They provide services in the areas of developmental disabilities, substance use, physical health, and early intervention and prevention. Their new website is meant to provide a clear and easy to navigate source of information for individuals seeking care.

The live site can be found at healthwest.net.

ARTPRIZE AT KENDALL

While working as part of the Communications team at Kendall College of Art and Design, I helped create ArtPrize-branded collateral for the College to use during the event. ArtPrize is the largest cash art prize in the world, and this was the first year that Kendall would serve as an exhibition center for the event.

Collateral included:
Mini Portfolio Booklet & Event Guide
Vinyl Building Signage
Web and Monitor Banners

Volunteer Name Badges
Wayfinding Signage
Event Promotional Materials & Advertising

TRANSITION TYPEFACE

This numeric typeface was created for the express purpose of depicting the ebb and flow of time in an interactive calendar format. The numerals flow into one another as the days pass, thus mirroring the passage of time and creating transitions that allow the viewers to see where they were and where they are going within the calendar.

PATHWAYS

Pathways to Better Health is a community outreach program aimed to connect people with two or more chronic health conditions to free local resources. The goals of this project were to:

Establish a professional brand for the organization using visual elements that are scalable, legible, and easy to understand.

Implement the brand through various marketing materials, including print, video, and web.

Persuade individuals to contact Pathways to see if they qualify for services.

My work included:
Logo Design
Brand & Identity Development
Web Design

The live site can be found at lakeshorepathways.com.

CONTRAST TYPEFACE

In his New Typography, Jan Tschischold discusses how contrast helps create form and balance within typography; so I decided to generate a typeface that exists through contrast in value that in turn creates form.

AFFINIA

Logo and identity for Mercy Health's Clinically Integrated Network, Affinia Health Network. The final designs complement the existing Mercy Health brand and reinforce the idea of harmonious connectivity.

+ - INSTALLATION

This installation was the product of a collaboration between myself and fellow designer Ashley Rodseth. We wanted to combine graphic design with installation art and investigate the ideas of a book transitioning into a building and a building transitioning into a book.

The installation we designed was created in conjunction with Site Lab, a non-profit that organizes temporary site-specific art exhibitions in underutilized commercial and industrial buildings. In the booklet that accompanied the installation, we explored the question, “When the building is gone, what is left?” and allowed the viewers to decide for themselves.

PERSONAL PROJECTS

Graphite hand and foot study

VARNUM PICNIC

Varnum, a regional business law firm in Michigan, was founded over 120 years ago. For many years, they have held an annual picnic for Varnum employees and their families. A different theme is chosen for each year's picnic, and a corresponding poster is created for that theme. The poster for this year was designed around the theme of 'art.'
